This course provides the field of academic writing. This course covers writing some kinds of essays, such as descriptive essays, expository essays, argumentation and persuasive essays; writing a summary; writing and documenting a research paper; and an APA-Style research paper.

Cross Culture Understanding (CCU)

Mata kuliah ini bertujuan membekali mahasiswa dengan teori serta pengetahuan tentang articulatory phonetics dan phonological rules yang meliputi fitur-fitur bunyi dalam Bahasa Inggris dan organisasinya. Cakupan materi meliputi istilah-istilah spesifik linguistik, deskripsi organ wicara (speech organs) serta mekanisme kerjanya dalam pembentukan bunyi dalam Bahasa Inggris, deskripsi serta fitur-fitur pembeda speech sounds, dan aturan-aturan dasar fonologi dalam Bahasa Inggris. Perkuliahan diselenggarakan dengan ceramah, diskusi dalam kelompok-kelompok kecil maupun berpasangan, membaca terbimbing (guided reading), dan pronunciation practices. Penilaian pencapaian Pembelajaran mahasiswa dilakukan melalui partisipasi perkuliahan, penugasan berupa reading reports, kuis-kuis, ujian tengah semester, dan ujian Akhir semester.

The course examines the internal structure of words and the rules by which word formations takes place and provides an introductory study of English grammar from a formal perspective. it covers such topics as definition, function and goals of morphology, words and its kinds, morphemes, word formation, inflection, interface and morphology in action. During the course learning mostly through inquiry and discovery, students are introduced to defined concepts with clarifying examples followed by exercises. In applying the principles involved on cases pertinent to the topics and analyzing the cases in prescribed ways

This subject is aimed to guide the students to be able to understand and explain the basic concepts of English teaching methodology with various methods.
